ULC International Litigation Study Committee
February 26, 2025

The Uniform Law Commission (ULC) has formed a Study Committee on International Litigation Procedures. The ULC, also known as the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, was established in 1892 to provides states with non-partisan legislation on critical areas of state statutory law.
State law plays a significant role in international litigation. The International Litigation Procedures Study Committee will consider whether to recommend that the ULC draft state legislation on international litigation, and if so, what topics should be covered. The ULC has adopted important legislation related to the enforcement of foreign judgments. The Study Committee will consider whether legislation is appropriate related to discovery, service of process, and determinations of foreign law. The Study Committee is also open to considering other topics related to international litigation, such as forum non conveniens.
The first meeting of the Study Committee will be held on Monday, March 24 at 5pm Eastern on Zoom. If readers are interested in participating as observers, please click the “Follow” button at this link.
