Willamette University College of Law will be hosting two events, back to back, in May that may be of interest to TLB readers.

Fifty Years in the Conflicts Vineyard

On May 8-9, 2024, Willamette University College of Law and the Conflict of Laws Section of the Association of American Law Schools will hold a symposium to celebrate Professor and Dean Emeritus Symeon Symeonides on May 8-9, who will retire from the law school in 2025. The symposium will celebrate Professor Symeonides both as a person and as a scholar who has made major contributions in the fields of conflict of laws, comparative law, and transnational litigation, among others.

Attendance in person at the Willamette University campus in Salem, Oregon, or virtually are both encouraged. Please register at this link.

Conflict of Laws Workshop and Call for Papers

On May 10, 2024, Willamette University College of Law will host the first biennial Conflict of Laws Workshop (CLW). The CLW aims to provide a forum to discuss new work in conflicts. The CLW welcomes work on all aspects of conflict of laws, including civil, criminal, domestic, and transnational conflict of laws. All those working in the field are invited to attend.

Those wishing to present a paper for discussion should submit a two-page abstract by March 1, 2024. Please email abstracts in Word or PDF format to roger.michalski@ou.edu and asimowitz@willamette.edu.

The CLW will provide meals for registrants. Participants must cover travel and lodging costs. Information about reasonably priced hotels will be provided as the date approaches.
